The Top Troller Planer
Board This holds the planer board tow line above the wave crests and out of the fisherman's way for smoother operation. Its spool is loaded with 150' of Dacron line and equipped with an adjustable friction clutch so line length can be easily adjusted. The spring mounted pulley at the top of the mast absorbs the wave action of the board. The Top Troller attaches to the bow or gunwales using the furnished swivel base. |

Planer Board Rigging Technique
Sketch shows planer board system on the left side of the boat running three lines. Outside lure is rigged first. Line is let out the desired distance behind the boat, then attached to a Gator Combo Release clip. Fishing line and release slide down the tow line until they are near board. Second rod is rigged and placed in the rod holder in front of the first. Third goes in front of the second. When a strike pops a release, remaining rods are moved backward in the rod holders. The boat's movement will swing the fish behind the boat where it can be played without tangles.
